In the short term the overall US suicide rate declined slightly during lockdown, for some groups the rate increased: among children, POC, and those infected by Covid. We don’t know what the long-term effects of lockdown but there is concern that the suicide rate could increase later on down the road and that excess deaths from suicide would also be attributed to Covid.
  3. themightyfoo said: In any war prior to World War II far more soldiers died of infectious disease than combat. Now that better medical care is available, deaths from infectious disease has fallen - to be supplanted by suicides.
